Hiram McLaughlin Passes Away at Advanced Age
CAME TO IOWA IN AN EARLY DAY
Funeral Services Held at Stiles Church--Survived by Four Children--Mr. McLaughlin Was a Native of Kentucky
Bloomfield, Feb.4--(Courier Special Service)--After a lingering illness of several months, Hiram McLaughlin passed away at the age of 80 years, at his home in this city Sunday evening, February 1. Funeral services were held over the remains Monday at Stiles, conducted by Rev. G. Moore, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in Pulaski. The interment was made in the Stiles cemetery.
NATIVE OF KENTUCKY
Mr. McLaughlin was a native of Kentucky, having been born in that state in 1823. While but a child he removed with his parents to Indiana. here he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Becroft, whom he survived several years. Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin came to Iowa about the year 1864. The deceased leaves four children: Mrs. Wm. Petefish, who resides in the south part of this county; Mrs. Martin, who resides in Schuyler county, Mo.; Miss Rebecca McLaughlin, who has resided in the home here; the fourth daughter resides in New Mexico. One grandson, Guy McLaughlin, being a son of a deceased son, also survives. he has heretofore made his home with Grandfather McLaughlin.
