M Sgt Becraft was born in Salem, Oregon, son of William R & Lorinda A Becraft. He worked for a time on his brother Arthur's farm in Oregon, and then joined the United States Army, rising to the position of trainer and serving in many places around the country including Fort Bliss, Texas, and in Indianapolis.
In 1930 he married Zella Oberbeck, who survived him.
