Richard Hill Becraft entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the age of 93. He was born on May 27, 1915 to the late Harry and Laura Taylor Becraft in Sloatsburg, NY. He married his late wife Velma Furman in 1937 and was widowed in 1989. Richard worked for the Avon Products in Suffern, NY for 30 years before retiring. Richard was a long time member of the Sloatsburg and Suffern Seniors as well as a life member of the Suffern Fire Dept. He was also active in the Suffern United Methodist Church, where he served as Past Treasurer and Sloatsburg United Methodist Church. Richard is survived by his loving daughter Janice and her husband Paul Rushalk, his cherished grandchildren Michael Rushalk and his fiance Kathy Sagers and Elaine and her husband Kevin Howes. He is also survived by his four great-grandchildren and by his longtime loving friend Betsy McIntosh. Richard is predeceased by his parents Harry and Laura Becraft, wife Velma Becraft and brother Harold Becraft. Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY 10901. There will be a service at the funeral home on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 11:30 AM with his interment to follow at the Airmont Lutheran Cemetery, Airmont, NY. A special thanks to the superb staff at Sunrise Assisted Living and all of his private aides for loving and dignified care in his final years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
