Oliver Stanley "Jack" Becraft, age 88 of Jeffersonville, KY, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at his residence. He was born on December 17, 1918, in Menifee County, KY, to the late Pete Becraft and the late Ester Ringo Becraft. He is survived by his widow, Christine Hall Becraft of Jeffersonville.
Mr. Becraft attended the Slate Creek Church of God and was retired from the occupation of a heavy equipment operator. He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the Army.
Besides his widow, Mr. Becraft is survived by four daughters - Joan Ford of Middletown, OH; Debbie Neal of Jeffersonville; Rhodema Daugherty of Frenchburg, KY; Willa Dean Hale of Owingsville, Ky; one son, Roscoe Wayne Neal, also of Owingsville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nellie Lacy of Bryantown, MD. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals in Mt. Sterling, KY, with Larry Williams officiating. Burial was in the Fagan Cemetery. Active pallbearers were - Shannon Daugherty; Kelly Daugherty; Scotty Manning; Ernie Tackett; Walter Ballard; Jerry Smallwood; and Danny Townsend. Honorary pallbearers were Damon Champ; Pete Nickell; Scot Cole; and Paul Angel.• His obituary was published in The Middletown Journal on 25 Feb 2007. Sterling, KY formerly of Middletown, OH died February 16th at his residence in the presence of his family after bouting a 2 year illness with cancer. He was born December 17, 1918 in Menefee County, KY. He is the son of Pete and Esther Becraft. He was a Deputy Sheriff of Frenchburg, KY for a number of years before becoming an operation engineer for McGraw Construction until retirement. Jack served in the US Army and was Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Middletown. He was an avid coon hunter. He was a member of the Slate Creek Church of God. He is survived by wife, Christine; daughter, Joan Scearce Ford; three grandchildren, Cindy (Damian) Champ, Gail (Pete) Nickell and Teresa (Paul) Angel; three great-grandchildren, Scott Cole, Taylor and Lauren Nickell; sister, Nellie Lacey of MD and numerous family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife of 38 years, Thelma Becraft; son-in-law, Larry S. Scearce; three sisters, Rosie Smallwood, Flora Jackson, Opal Alexander; two brothers, Ellis and Jim Becraft. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 20th at Herald & Stewart Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, KY. His final resting place is Fagan Cemetery in Menefee County, KY.
