Michelle Becraft

Michelle Annette Becraft, 22, died on Dec 5, 1990, at her home in Laurel after a long battle against a brain tumor.

Becraft was president of the Laurel High School Class of 1986 during her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was a member of the high school's track team and swim team. She also was a member of the Laurel Pines swim team and the West Laurel swim team.

Her love for Laurel High was evident in the many ways she involved herself with school activities, such as homecoming floats, fund-raisers and planning for the senior prom.

Becraft had attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County and Catonsville Community College before her illness forced her to discontinue her studies. A lifelong resident of Laurel, she attended Maryland City Elementary, Bond Mill Elementary and Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School.

Services were held on Saturday, Dec 8, at First United Methodist Church of Laurel, where she was a lifelong member. The Rev. John Williams officiated and the Rev. Winfield Hall assisted. Burial followed in Union Cemetery in Burtonsville.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Harry and Edith Becraft, and her maternal grandfather, Charles A. Feick Jr. She is survived by her parents, Wayne and Nancy Becraft, and her brothers, Jeffrey and Mark Becraft, all of Laurel; and her maternal grandmother, J. Loraine Feick of Gaithersburg.

Because of Michelle's love for Laurel High and her caring for others, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Michelle A. Becraft Scholarship Fund, c/o Laurel High School, 8000 Chery Lane, Laurel, Md 20707.

Funeral arrangements were by Donaldson Funeral Home.
