Luther F. YOUNG, 70, Akron, formerly of Urbana. died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Wabash Healthcare Center, Wabash.
Born in Fulton County to Henry and Sylvia VANDERMARK YOUNG, he married Zelpha Marie BECRAFT on July 3, 1950. She survives. A retired brick mason, he had worked for D&C Construction, South Whitley. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He is also survived by three sons, Alfred YOUNG, North Manchester, Floyd Eugene YOUNG, Palm Bay, Fla., and Gerald YOUNG, Santa Fe, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Joyce) DAY, Roann, and Geraldine FRIEND, North Manchester; three grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren-, four brothers, Daniel YOUNG and Henry YOUNG, both of South Bend, Harold YOUNG, Laketon, and Leroy YOUNG South Whitley: three sisters, Mrs. Sammie (Sylvia) HOWARD North Manchester; Mrs. Arde (Beulah) BADSKEY, South Whitley, and Ms. Dora FISHER, Australia. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Thomas TURNER officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Servia. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Surviving are two sons, Floyd Eugene Young, Palm Bay, Fla., and Gerald Young, Santa Fe, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Joyce) Day, Roann, and Geraldine Friend, North Manchester; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. One son, Alfred Lee Young, died in 1998. Three brothers and four sisters are also deceased.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel. Pastor Ken Parsons will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
