H. Taylor Becraft of Roy will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house and birthday party from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, at the Roy Hillside Senior Center, 5051 S. 1900 West. No gifts.

He was born on April 28, 1920, in Ogden to Chester and Ella Becraft. He attended Ogden schools and felt privileged to be in the first graduating class of the new Ogden High School in 1938. He attended Weber State College. In 1944 he joined the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1981 after 41 years of service.

On May 15, 1941, he married Virginia Fowers. They resided in Ogden until moving to Roy in 1995.

His children and their spouses are Jerry and Josie Becraft, Mike and Lisa Becraft, and Susan Hall. He has nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He enjoys golfing. He joined the Railroad Golf Association in 1981 and continues to golf three days a week with the group. Other hobbies include stained-glass artwork, silver smithing and rock polishing.

He was a proud Patriarch of five generations of male descendants.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Chester Arthur Becraft, and his son, Michael Earl Becraft.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, where Military Honors will be accorded. The family will meet with friends Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

"Together Again"

Virginia Fowers Becraft, 95, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017. She was born on October 13, 1921, in Hooper City, UT, the daughter of Joseph Paul and Fern Belnap Fowers. She graduated from Weber High School and lived in Ogden for about 30 years with a few in Roy.

She married Henry Taylor Becraft on May 15, 1941 in Weber County, Utah. Taylor passed away on January 29, 2014.

Virginia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She retired from Ogden City Schools as a secretary after 25 years of service.

For twenty years after retirement she enjoyed making beautiful ceramic art work especially her porcelain doll collection for her grandchildren. She loved to crochet and quilt. Virginia was extremely proud of the legacy of her family.

Virginia is survived by her son, Gerald Taylor (Josie) Becraft; daughter, Susan Becraft Hall (Jim); daughter-in-law, Lisa Becraft; nine grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Vickie) Fowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Taylor Becraft; son, Michael Earl Becraft; three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe. Rd.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to A Step Forward Hospice Care and the Lotus Park Assisted Living staff for their guidance and care.
