• His obituary was published in the Placer Herald on 7 Aug 1907. Edward Kilgo of Colfax died on Tuesday night last at Stockton, whither he was taken some mouths ago for treatment, as the result of a ruptured blood vessel in the head. The remains were brought to Colfax on Wednesday evening's local. The funeral was held yesterday from the M E. Church at Colfax, the services being under the auspices of Colfax Lodge No. 132, I. O. O. F. Edward- Kilgo was born at lowa Hill, Placer county, May 3rd 1868, and was therefore a little over 39 years of age. Placer county had always been his home. Edward Kilgo was a man above the ordinary intelligence. .He had studied law and as justice of the peace was said by lawyers to be one of the best justices Placer county ever had. He was a Democrat in politics, and was honored many times by his party. He was chairman of the last Democratic county convention, held at Lincoln. Edward Kilgo was a thoroughly honest and upright man, conscientious in the performance of h's duty. He was a splendid type of citizen and as a son, husband and father he was always kind and indulgent His sad taking off will be mourned by many friends and his bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all. A widow and four small children are left behind, as are also two brothers and two sisters: Supervisor William Kilgo and Sarah Kilgo of Colfax, Tom Kilgo of San Francisco and Alice Kilgo of Alameda.
