• His obituary was published. Dewey Donald Becraft, 70, of Oneida, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Oneida Health Hospital where he had been a patient for four days.

He was born on December 16, 1951, in Watertown, the son of John Thomas and Mary Jean (Kirch) Becraft, Jr. He was a 1971 graduate of Oneida High School and went on to attend Mohawk Valley Community College.

Dewey proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

He spent many years living in the Camden/Rome area, before moving back to the Oneida area six years ago. He was of the Catholic faith.

Dewey was a history enthusiast and loved his 3 feline companions, Lori, Debbie, and Lela.

Surviving besides his mother, Mary, of Chaumont; are his nine siblings, John (Rosalie) Becraft, III, of Sylvan Beach, Lawrence (Joanne) Becraft, of Rome, Bruce (Kimberly) Becraft, of Camden, Lorelei Yeman, of Oneida, Deborah (Lawrence) Richmond, of Oneida, Christopher (Gina) Becraft, of Oneida, Robert Becraft, of Watertown, Brian Becraft, of Chaumont, and Leon (Yvonne Sanderson) Becraft, of Watertown; a brother-in-law, Basil Rich, of Copenhagen; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Russell Becraft on November 11, 1984; and a sister, Lela Rich on August 18, 2003.



Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Dewey's memory to the Wanderer's Rest Humane Society, PO Box 535, Canastota, NY, 13032. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida.
