• His obituary was published. BECRAFT, Carl Vernon, 44, died 13 Aug 1947, buried Ghent, KY, b. 10 Jan 1903, s/o Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Becraft. When a small boy, lived in a children's home and the late Frank Wright later adopted him. On 28 Sep 1922, m. to MARY EDNA MCDOWELL, 4 ch. 3 survive Mrs. Norma Howard, Raymond, Ella Becraft. Carl, Jr. died in infancy. Bro. Raymond and Everett of OH.

• Orphanage: Baptist Orphanage, Ghent. Carl was sent to the Baptist Orphanage in Ghent at age 5; at age 12 he went to live with Frank Wright, Trimble Co, KY. In 1928, he contacted the Orphanage again, receiving the identity of his mother Ida Slusher. From this information he was able to locate his father and two brothers.

• He appeared on the Federal census in 1910 in Frenchburg, Menifee, Kentucky, United States. Dudley Becraft, age 42y; wife Ida, age 30y; son Evert, age 14y; son Carl Payne, age 5y born KY; son Ray O Payne, age 1y9m, born WV.

• He appeared on the Federal census in 1930 in Trimble, Kentucky, United States. Carl R Beacreft, born abt 1904; wife Mary E, 1904; Francis C, 1924; Raymond E, 1927; Ella R, 1930.
