Virginia State Police yesterday reported two highway fatalities from Thursday crashes.
Beverly Jean Becraft, 43, was killed in Carroll County when she lost control of her car while driving north on Interstate 77 and collided with a tractor-trailer, police said.
Police said Becraft, of the Wythe County community of Austinville, was driving without her seat belt buckled several miles south of U.S. 58 when her car ran off the road to the left, struck a guardrail and then was struck by the truck.
She died at the scene of the 3:45 p.m. accident.

Beverly Jean BeCraft, 43, of Austinville, Va., died Thursday June 28, 2007. She was a 4th grade school teacher at St. Paul Elementary School in Cana, Va. Beverly graduated from George Wythe High School in 1982, Radford College in 1999 and attended Beech Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Jean Goodwin BeCraft. She is survived by her father, B. Dean BeCraft of Wytheville; sister and brother-in-law, Caroline and Travis Jackson of Wytheville; niece, Retta Nichole Jackson of Wytheville; very special friend, Mark Horton of Galax; and special friend, Barbara Shelton of Wytheville. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 1, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Mark Carrico and the Rev. Roger Crigger with a graveside service on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 p.m. until service time. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
