Four Alleged Law Violators Arrested Near Roseburg.

ROSEBURG, Or., March 1. --(Special.)--Charged with gaffing salmon, which congregate in great numbers just below the Winchester dam, five miles from this city, Charles Byrd, Claude Elder, Lloyd Tipton and Chris Beecroft were arrested today by Deputy Game Warden Walker and brought here.

Vernon Davis, a fifth alleged offender, escaped arrest by evading the warden. Tipton and Beecroft appeared before Justice Jones and entered a plea of not guilty. The others, being under age, will be held for the Juvenile court and will have a hearing Friday.

ROSEBURG, Or., April 2, --(Special.)-- The paroles granted recently to Pat Tipton and Chris Beecroft of Winchester were revoked today and the boys will be required to pay a fine of $50 or serve 25 days in the county jail. The boys first wee arrested for gaffing salmon at the Winchester dam. Sentence was suspended. The boys have associated themselves, however, with a "roughneck" gang which has been causing a great deal of trouble in the Winchester vicinity.

Chris Beecroft's Parole Revoked, but Will be Restored.

ROSEBURG, Or., April 6. -- (Special.) -- To have his parole revoked, to pay a fine amounting to $50, and then the officers discovered that the young man was innocent of violating the court order was the experience of Chris Beecroft of Winchester, who appeared in court this morning and paid his fine for gaffing fish some days ago.

The parole was revoked Saturday on alleged information that Beecroft had violated the court orders. This was found to be a mistake and officers stated this afternoon the $50 would be returned to Beecroft and the order suspending sentence continued in effect.
