• Her obituary was published. Carlene Bates Becraft, 83, of Northridge Estates, Mt. Sterling passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was born in Menifee County, Kentucky on September 12, 1930 the daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle Blevins Bates. She was a former teacher and real estate broker, a member of the Old Salem Primitive Baptist Church and the widow of William Herman Becraft, Jr.
She is survived by one son, Jeffrey (Janet) Becraft of Winchester, KY; two daughters, Elisa (Steve) Price and Jill Lee both of Mt. Sterling, KY; two brothers, Stanton (Geri) Bates of Ohio and Martin (Lorraine) Bates of Lexington, KY; six sisters, Shirley Dixon of Mt. Sterling, Vicki (Gary) Beyer of Mt. Sterling, Bonnie (Lacey) Bennett of Mt. Sterling, Brenda (Ron) Toler of Clark County, KY, Sherrie (Jim) Barnard of Mt. Sterling and Ronada (Foy) Whitaker of Stanton, KY; six grandchildren, Amanda (Chad) Brown, Taylor Price, William (Alicia) Price, Jeffrey Dwayne Becraft, Rebecca Carlene Lee, and Jacob Watson; one great grandchild, Samuel Bennett Brown all of Mt. Sterling; and one very special cousin, Brenda Murphy of Mt. Sterling.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Bates.
Funeral services will be 1 PM, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Old Salem Primitive Baptist Church with Revs. Mike Mullins and Gary Beyer officiating and burial following in the Williams Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday evening at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Sterling. Pallbearers will be Steve Price, William Price, Dwayne Becraft, Brett Alfrey, Derrick Wilson and Sean Donohue. Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Price, Jacob Watson, Ron Toler, Gary Beyer, Lacey Bennett, J. B. Amburgey and Jim Barnard.
