Connie Rae Sherwood of Mesa, Ariz., raised in Conway, Ark., began her new journey in the eternal world early on the morning of May 22, 2006.

She was born on March 26, 1953, in Mesa, graduated from Conway High School, and attended Rick's College in Rexburg, Idaho. She had a long banking career, starting in Provo, Utah, continuing in Salt Lake City, and she was currently working for Wells Fargo Bank in Phoenix, Ariz., as a learning and development trainer and consultant.

Connie Rae was a loving daughter and sister and an awesome aunt to many nieces and nephews, but even more than that she was an unforgettable friend to everyone she met. She is survived by her parents, M. Ray and Helen Becraft Sherwood of Pierce City, Mo.; and by her siblings, Ruth and Lanny Porter of Houston, Texas, Karl and Elaine Sherwood of Conway, Ark., Paul and Shauna Sherwood of Colorado Springs, Colo., Stan and Sue Sherwood of Conway, and Don Sherwood of Fairfield Bay, Ark.

She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who adored her and by an intimate group of friends that have been her extended family for over 25 years, Eileen Barber, Judy Phillips, Dennis Peterson, John Taylor, Bonnie McGuffy, John Gleason and Glen Mitchell. A large circle of personal friends and bank workers also survive her. In fact, it is common knowledge that she was central to the lives of very many people, people who loved and confided in her both as friends and colleagues. Her smile will remain behind her forever as the sunshine of their lives.

An open house for all her friends and relatives to celebrate her life will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at 371 North Carriage Lane, Chandler, Ariz., on Saturday, May 27.
