• MilitaryService: Fought at Crecy with his father, 1346, Crécy-en-Ponthieu, Somme, Picardie, France.

• Biography: Sir John Tempest, of Bracewell, son and heir of Sir John Tempest of Broughton, was born about 1313 at Bracewell, Yorkshire. He married by 1353 when John and Katherine, his wife, brought a writ of novel disseisin of land in Wode Plumpton, by her attorney Adam Fox, against John and Isabel de Stafford and others.

On 7 January 1353/4, Katherine's mother Alice, widow of Robert Shirburne granted to Katherine and her husband Sir John all the crops growing on the land she had given them.

John and Katherine had at least two children: Richard son and heir and Peter.

Mar 1350 - acknowledged a debt & arranging payment -to- sir William Clifton, from Lady ALICE, who was wife of sir Robert Sherburne, sir, JOHN Tempest, the yr, Robert Shirburne, clerk, William Sherburne
6 Jan 1353- agreements made between Alice, widow of Sir Robert Sherburne and Sir John Tempest, and Katherine, his wife, that on the day of these agreements were made said John shall have all the corn sown on lands that the said John and Katherine, have of the gift of said Alice.
1353 - Lancaster - Katherine and John Tempest, her husband, brought a writ of novel disseisin of land in Wood Plumpton, by her attorney Adam Fox vs. John and Isabel Stafford & others
Aug 1354 - Sir John Tempest and Katherine his wife, of the dioese of York, obtained a papal indult to choose their own confessors.
