• Event: Information comes from Marsha L Downey's rootsweb site. She says this about Philburd:

Philburd Wright, b. 1750 in Maryland is listed as an "Associator" with the rebel cause in the American Revolution. A bio of his grandson, Hiram Rains, claims he was a soldier, was slashed on the face by a British offer's [sic] saber, carrying the scar all his life. I have not been able to substantiate his status as a soldier other than DAR records list him and he is listed in Water's book of "Revolutionary Soldiers Buried in Indiana". Philburd moved to Randolph Co., NC after the Revolution, served as a Justice of the Peace there, emigrated to Wayne Co., IN, about 1812, owned land near Brownsville, IN, which became Fayette Co, then Union Co., IN. He died 18 Feb., 1833 & is buried in the Maywood Cemetery, Wayne Twp., Marion Co., IN with his wife, Elizabeth Reagan (1754-1830), near their youngest son, Aaron Wright. Philburd and Elizabeth had at least 10 children, as many as 13 by some accounts.
