John D. Pyles
John D. Pyles, aged 54 years, six months and twenty-nine days, died at his home, 218 East Seventh street, at 9:45 o'clock, Thursday evening, August 26, after a long illness. Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons and one daughter, as follows: John W., Arthur T., Robert R. and Ella M., at home; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Michael Unger, of Urbana; Mrs. Joseph A. Bennet, Clarksburg, Md. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Wallace, of Urbana; Alonzo, of Harnedsville, Pa.; Algie, at Bluefield, W. Va.; Mrs. Sallie Price, of Dickerson, Md.; Mrs. Laura Disney and Mrs. Mollie Magarity, both of Washington, D.C.
The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with services at Urbana M.E. church, South, and burial in the cemetery adjoining. Geo. W. Peters is the funeral director.

Mrs. Ellen Roberts Pyles, widow of John D. Pyles, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Stroup, 121 West Fifth street, this morning shortly after midnight, of paralysis, aged 73 years, six months, and one day. She was ... a resident of Frederick all her life. She was a life-long member of Centennial Memorial Brethren church.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Stroup, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Alonzo Bennett, Boyds, and two sons, John W. Pyles, Baltimore, and Arthur T. Pyles, Richmond, Va. Two brothers, John Roberts, Relay, and Joseph Roberts, Kemptown, and a sister, Mrs. Susan Hood, New Market, also survive.
The body is at the funeral home, 15 East Fourth street, where friends may call until 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, at which time it will be removed to the home of her daughter, 121 West Fifth street. Funeral at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, services in charge of her pastor, Rev. J. H. Schmitt. Interment in Urbana cemetery. Richard N. Conrad, funeral director.
