• Event: Letter. David Martin Kendall's Beecroft book:
She writes:
"I am the oldest of seven there are three boys and four girls. I married a farmer and have two children a boy and a girl. We have a busy life I would have written before but we've just finished hay time and I also hairdress when I can that was my job before I was married. Mother is 81 in Sept. She used to play the organ at Dacre Chapel for years. It was while she was playing one day that she lost use of her right hand. Dacre is just a small village there used to be trains running through but they are stopped, now, just a bus service. I can remember Granny & her brothers having a covered cart traveling miles to a market at Otley. Grandad Beecroft is buried in Dacre Chapel yard, but a few ancestors are at a place called Thornthwaite."
