Michael Michener, 75, of State Route 22B, Peru, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, Plattsburgh, with his loving family and friends at his side.


He was born in Elizabethtown, NY on September 22, 1943, to Paul and Mildred (Becraft) Michener.


Michael graduated from Port Henry High School in 1960. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1961 and served 27 years before his retirement in 1988. During Michael's Air Force career, he became a Physician's Assistant. He was stationed at Andrews AFB, MD; McDill AFB, FL; Ellsworth AFB, SD; the Air Force Academy, CO; F. E. Warren AFB, WY; and Plattsburgh AFB, NY. Michael served in Vietnam from 1968-1969. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he entered the private sector, practicing in Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, Dannemora, and Schuyler Falls. Michael retired from employment with New York State in 2005 due to his health.


Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Dawn (Stephens) Michener; son, Michael Michener, Jr. (Cathy); daughter, Michele Powers; grandchildren, Senior Airman Corey Powers, Michaela Michener, Madison Powers, Andrew Powers; sister, Paula (Russ) Hubert; mother-in-law, Blanche Stephens; sister-in-law, Sherry (Ken) Sutton; brother-in-law, Criss (Kathleen) Stephens; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his hunting and fishing buddies, Tony Tyrell, Al Tucker, Mike Pereau, and Ron Kautz.


In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his brother, Wayne.


A Celebration of Life was private and held at the convenience of the family.
