Edward Lee Leisher Sr., 57, Laurel resident and maintenance engineer for Nochols Realty Co., died April 19, 1986 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
A service was held in memory of Mr. Leisher at the Fleck Funderal Home on Friday, April 11, by the Laurel Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Prince Georges's County Volunteer Fire Association. The service was led by Chaplain P.M. Damewood and Chaplain Warren H. Litchfield.
Funeral services were held, also at the Fleck Funeral Home, on Saturday April 12, with the Rev. Roby Eastridge officiating. Burial was at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Laurel.
Born in Laurel on Jan 16, 1929, Mr. Leisher was the son of the late Guy and Blanche Leisher.
He married the former Rose Marie Mills on May 10, 1959. The couple would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary this coming May.
He wa a life member (34 years) of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, and had held the following offices in the company; first-lieutenant, second lieutenant, captain, second assistant chief and assistant chief. He was also a member of the Maryland National Guard for 15 years and was honorably discharged because of health problems.
Mr. Leisher was employed at Western Auto in Laurel for a number of years. Later he was manager of the Exxon Station in Beltsville for sometime. He held his job at Nichols Realty till his health failed and was unable to work any longer.
Aside from his widow Rose Marie, he is survived by daughters Becky Bishop, Tina Marie and Lorie Ann Leisher; sons Edward Lee Leisher Jr., William Guy and Gary Wayne Leisher and George Cavender; and sisters Mary E. Leisher and Bert Rushing.
Donald Franklin Leisher preceded his father in death.
In lieu of flowers, the bereaved family suggests donations to the Heart Foundation.

Rose Marie Leisher, 68, a lifelong Laurel resident, died Nov 19, 2003 at Mariner Health of Greater Laurel.
Daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Jenkins) Mills, she was born April 14, 1935 in Laurel. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Laurel. She was also a member of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Leisher Sr.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Becky and Jerry Bishop of Arlington, Texas, and daughters Tina and Lori Leisher, both of Laurel; sons George Cavender of Huntsville, Ala., Edward Leisher Jr. and gary Leisher, both of Laurel, and son and daughter-in-law William and Sue Leisher of Laurel; sisters Nancy Coon of Dayton and Myrtle Coon, Betty Coon, Edith Silvious and Carolyn Jarels, all of Laurel; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation was Nov. 21 and 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave., with a service conducted by the fire department ladies auxiliary on Nov. 21. Services were Nov 23 at 1 p.m. at the funderal home, with Chaplain Warren Litchfield of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department officiating. Burial was at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
