Children

General Notes: Husband - Joseph Ward James

Ward chose to use his middle name and was known as Ward during his lifetime. He attended the Galien School and graduated from Galien High School in 1916. He then enrolled in the State Normal School in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He participated in track both in high school and in college. He had made quite a record for himself in track at State Normal but World War I ended his short college training. After his marriage in 1917, he went to work in the Steel Mills in Gary, Indiana. He lived in Gary about two years. He brought his family back to Galien and during 1920 opened a grocery store in Galien. This did not prove to be a successful business. In about 1932 he opened a Gulf Service Station on the northeast corner of U.S. 12 and Cleveland Avenue. He operated this business for about thirty years. He retired 1 Jan 1963.

Notes: Marriage (Mead Soule Becraft):
