Elizabeth Jane Hutchinson Ramsdell was the daughter of James McCullen Gordon Hutchinson and Sarah Delamarter Hutchinson. She married John A. Ramsdell in February 1861 in Illinois. She was his second wife and they had no children of their own but she acquired stepchildren from John's first marriage.

John A. Ramsdell was a familiar figure in Burnet County. He was elected to the Texas State Legislature in 1885, serving the district of Burnet and Lampasas counties. He is reported to have died in the West Indies sometime after the death of Elizabeth.
