• His obituary was published in the Memphis Revelle on 31 Dec 1925. Samuel White, son of Abraham and Latishia White, was born March 17th, 1848, in Green County, Tenn., and died December 22nd, 1925, at Stiles, Iowa, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 5 days.

He was married to Nancy Name Barker, March 16th, 1873. To this union seven children were born, four of which preceded him in death, Infant child, Oren Howard, William A., Lucinda Jane "Cindy".

He was converted at the age of 17, joined the United Brethern church, of which he remained a consistent member for 47 years, moved from the farm to Memphis, Mo., in September, 1902.

He became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Memphis, Missouri, 1913, of which he remained a member until his death.

His religious life was one of constant devotion to the cause of Christ and the church. A big heart, an open hand made him an ideal christian. In his death the church, the community and a multitude of friends suffer an inestimable loss.

The wife, Nancy and three children-John Henry White-known as "Henry", Sarah Alice White-Odell-known as "Allie", Rosetta Ann White-Leeper-Taylor-known as "Rosy", twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister survive.

Funeral services were held at Barker Church, Thursday at 12 o'clock, noon, conducted by Rev. E. C. Morgan of Memphis, after which the body was bured in Barker Emetery, Scotland County, Missouri, USA.

Nancy Jane Barker White was born in Indiana in the year of 1852, and departed this life, November 30th 1929, being 77 years, 9 months and 24 days old.

She came to Missouri in early childhood, was united in marriage to Samuel White, March 16th, 1873. To this union seven chilren were born, four of whom preceded her in death. The preceding children are Mrs. Sarah A.Odell of Memphis, Mo, Mrs. Rosa Taylor of Kansas City, Mo and John Henry White of Memphis, Mo.

She has made her home with her daughters since the death of her husband, December 22, 1925.

She was converted in early childhhood and joined the United Brethern Church of which she remained a member until 1915. Having moved to Memphis, Mo, she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she remained a consistent member until her death.

She leaves to mourn their loss, 13 great grand children, 12 grand children, two sisters, Mrs Ellen Shook of Palaisade, Colorado, and Mrs. Joseph Reed of Downing, Mo. besides a host of friends. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and a consistent christian.

Funeral services were conducted by the pastor. Rev Paul Barton at the Barker Church on Sunday afternoon. He was assisted by the pastor of that church, Miss Bertha Porter. The church was crowded with friends who come through the snow to the service.
