The Middletown JournalFriday, Dec 6 1957Cecil FugateCecil Fugate, 50, of West Middletown Rt 2, the West Alexandria Road, was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:35 am today at Middletown Hospital. He was employed by the Ashworth Coal Co. here and had worked yesterday. He became ill at his home about an hour before his death. A resident of Middletown since 1917, he had been employed by the coal company for the past six years and was a member of the Elk Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Nannie; three sons, Leonard of Trenton, Lloyd of West Middletown and Thomas in the U.S. Navy; six daughters, Mrs. Mabel Conrad of Middletown, Mrs. Frances Wells of Dayton, Mrs. Mildred McCullen and Mrs. Mary Klackner, both of West Middletown, and Annette and Barbara, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Catherine Puckett of West Middletown; and 50 grandchildren. Arrangements are incomplete at the Joseph R. Baker & Sons Funeral Home. Nannie R. Fugate
Mra. Nannie R. Fugate, 94, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000 at the Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born March 25, 1906, in Menifee County, Kentucky and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Fugate was a homemaker and attended Edgewood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil R Fugate in 1957; her parents, Charles & Amanda Staton; a grandson, Gary E Fugate; sons; Lloyd, Cecil and Leonard Fugate; Brothers: Henry, Chester, Amos and Clay Staton; a daughter Mildred Ellington; and sisters Fannie Minton, Lola Dishman, Julia Peck, Lilly Mae Staton and Ruby Staton. She leaves five daughters: Frances Wells (Mason) of Dayton, and Mae Conrad, Mary Johnson (Mike), Jean Kakaris Baird (Jack) and Barbara Snell (Jack), all of Middletown; a son Thomas Fugate (Caroline) of Camden; a brother, William Staton of Middletown; 37 grandchildren, 103 great grandchildren, 38 great great grandchildren and five great great great grandchildren; two daughter-in-laws Delor and Patsy Fugate, both of Middletown; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express its special thanks to Dr. Mark Williams, M.D. and the hospice of Middletown. Funeral services will be at 2pm Monday, Dec 18 at Joseph Baker Stevens Funeral Home. The family will recive friends from noon to 2pm Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Middletown, 4414 Lewis Street, Middletown 45044.
