Retired Railroad Employee, Dies
William P. Reed, 82, residing at 254 Lafayette, died at 4 a.m. today in Porter Memorial hospital following a six weeks' illness.
The decedent was born in Marshall co, Indiana, Dec. 7, 1869, a son of Lemuel and Catherine (France) Reed, and came to Valparaiso from Warsaw Jan. 1, 1934. He was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania railroad.
Surviving are one son, James Reed, South Bend; six daughters, Mrs. Nellie McColley, Gary; Mrs. Beula Rittel, Valparaiso; Mrs. Thelma Copeland, Atwood, Ind.; Mrs. Pansy Jamison, Sidney, Ind. and Mrs. Mattie Becraft, Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Doty, Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Florence Cleveland, Lagrange, Ind.; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grand-children.
Sort memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the LePell Funeral home, 53 Monroe, the Rev. W. W. Byeers, of the Seventh Day Adventist church, officiating. The body will be taken to Warsaw for funeral services Sunday.
