Willard Evans Snags Finger On Rusty Nail While Butchering
Blood Poisoning Developed
Wound Seemed To Be Healing Nicely, But Finally Developed in Acute Bright's Disease
Willard Evans died at his home in East Warsaw on Tuesday afternoon of acute suppression of the urine which was probably the result of blood poisoning. About a week ago, while butchering a pig, Mr. Evans injured his finger on a rusty nail. After the finger had begun to get very sore he had it treated by a physician. The wound showed every sign of healing satisfactorily, but it is believed the blood poison that developed took effect upon the whole system. The attending physician ??? in a case of acute Bright's Disease. He is not certain whether death was caused by blood poison or not, but admits the possibility of this being the case.
Mr. Evans was 56 years of age and is survived by his wife and three grown children. He had been working at Mishawaka and South Bend and came to Warsaw about a week ago. He intended to start to work for Fred Beyer in the early spring.
The funeral will be held from the Brethren church at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon and will be in charge of Rev. Carpenter. Prior to moving to South Bend about two years ago, Mr. Evans had been employed by Fred Beyer for about twenty-one years.
