• His obituary was published in The Evening News on 7 Feb 1997 in Harrisburg, Philadelphia Co, PA. Richard W. Durnin , 72, of 135 Leeds Road, Penn Twp.,died Thursday (February 6) in Carlisle Hospital. He was retired from the former Naval Supply Depot in Hampden Twp.; a Navy veteran of World War II; graduated from Waynesboro High School and the Corcoran School of Art, Washington, D. C.; and was a member of the Island Baptist Church of Chincoteague, Va.

Surviving are his wife, Louise V. Kesterson Durnin; two daughters, Diana McLaughlin of Lemoyne and Dena Durnin of Camp Hill; a stepson, Timothy Becraft of Carlisle; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Cooper of Fayetteville,N.C.; a sister, Patricia of Carlisle; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Community Baptist Church,Carlisle. Burial will be at sea. Arrangements are being handled by Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association,1019 Mumma Road, Suite 200, Wormleysburg, 17043.
