Jack Anthony Martin joined his wife, Joy, in eternal life on October 8, 2016 at the age of 94. Jack was born August 9, 1922 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to George and Gene Martin. He married Jane White in 1941 and was blessed with three children; Jim, Jane, and Jill. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On October 29, 1960, Jack married Joy Elliott and this union of marriage was blessed with a son, Jack Martin, II. Jack provided a wonderful home for his family by working at Tinker Air Force Base, with his military service and time in at Tinker, Jack's career spanned 42 years. After retirement, he refocused his energy towards art and was one of the founding members of the 50 Penn Art Gallery as well as countless years of showing in Oklahoma City's Festival of the Arts. Jack always enjoyed painting whether it was a beautiful landscape oil painting, jack-o'-lantern faces on pumpkins, or giving painting lessons at church. It was a gift that he was given and he enjoyed sharing it. Jack will be remembered by his love of; family, art, a good joke, and of course his undying love for Joy. Jack and Joy shared 49 beautiful years of marriage before her passing 7 years ago on October 8th. They faithfully served at First Lutheran Church of Oklahoma City for more than 35 years. Jack was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Joy Martin, parents, George and Gene Martin, brother George "Teddy" Martin 2nd and Sister Joan Madeira and daughter-in-law, Karen Martin.
He is remembered by his sister, Sally Cree of Newville, Pennsylvania, son, Jim Martin and wife, Nancy of Tomball, Texas, daughter, Jane Shetrone and husband John of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, daughter, Jill Lehman and husband Bob of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, son, Jack Martin II of Oklahoma City, Joe Elliott and wife Diane of Norman, Jeff Elliott and wife Janna of Moore, more than 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many other family members and friends.
Visitation Wednesday and Thursday, October 12 & 13, 2016, 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes. Services 10AM Friday October 14, 2016 at Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes Chapel.

• Her obituary was published. Joy Martin, 79, passed away at her home Thursday morning, Oct 8th 2009, after a short illness. She was born in Harrisburg, Pa. Joy was married to Joe Elliott in 1949 and gave birth to two sons, Joe and Jeff. In 1960 she married Jack Martin and had a son, Jack II. They moved to Del City, OK in 1970. Joy was a retired florist and a master floral designer for many years. She loved playing in the yard and just being in the sun. She had a special gift for making everyone she knew feel wanted and loved. She touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with and her smile could brighten any day. Jack and Joy would have celebrated a beautiful 49 years together this month. They have been faithful members of First Lutheran Church for 39 yrs. and a member of the Silver Sneakers at the local YMCA. She is survived by her husband Jack; her three sons & their wives, Joe and Diane Elliott of Norman, Jeff and Janna Elliott of Moore and Jack and Karen Martin of OKC; 15 Grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren; brother, Rick; two sisters, Dot and Jean; along with many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Effie Drumheller. Services will be held 10am Monday, Oct 12, 2009 at First Lutheran Church, 1300 N. Robinson Ave. in OKC. Visitation will be from 2-8pm Sat and Sun with a special visitation w/ family on Sunday from 2-4pm at Vondel Smith & Son, 4000 SW 119th St, OKC 73173. A heartfelt thanks to Interim Hospice for making her comfortable in her last days. Do not mourn my passing. For I have lived full well, Enjoyed life, Touched and have been touched by love. Weep not lest you forget, I loved.
