Arlie "Hootie" Flannery, age 72, of Olympia, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2002, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born July 2, 1929 in Bath County, the son of the late Nathan and Elsie Griggs Flannery. He was a retired employee of the Whirlpool Corporation and was a member of the Mudlick Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Crouch Flannery; four sons, Mitchell and wife Becky Flannery, of Kimmell, IN, Rudy and wife Phyllis Flannery, of Nicholasville, Rockey and wife Maggie Flannery of Olympia, and Arlie Steven and wife Missy Flannery of Olympia; one sister, Mary Smith of Olympia; two brothers, Ray Becraft of Ohio, and Carrol Becraft of Olympia; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, Paul, Leondis and Wilburn Flannery.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 20, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mudlick Church of God with Revs. Mark Caldwell, Lawrence Arnet, Jr., Jim Reffitt and Jerry Williams officiating. Burial was in Griggs Cemetery.
