• Her obituary was published. Joan R. (Lyman) Clark, 66, of New York Mills, died on Friday, December 1, 2006, at Faxton St. Luke's Health Care in New Hartford. She was born on August 20, 1940 in Utica, a daughter of the late Francis and Isabelle (Becraft) Lyman. She graduated from UFA in 1958, and then from MVCC as a LPN. She was united in marriage to Richard M. Clark on November 23, 1985 in Utica. Joan was a dedicated nurse, serving the community for 20 years, and most recently with the ARC in their group homes, where she provided special care to the residents. Joan was a very caring and loving person. She loved her family and grandchildren more than anything, and would always make sure that there was peace and harmony at all times. She cherished the time she spent with her family, whether it was camping at Sylvan Beach, having cookouts, shopping at Sally's, or going to the Utica Rome Speedway. She also enjoyed attending services with her family at Soul's Harbor Pentecostal Church. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard M. Clark of New York Mills; her beloved children, Maryann Myers and her husband, Robert of Ballston Spa, Dawn Knox and her fiance, Carl of Hickory Creek, TX, Arthur T. Newman Jr. and his wife, Renee of Utica , Michael F. Newman and his wife, Sherry of New York Mills; her adored grandchildren, David Davies and his wife, Tish, Michael G. Newman, Jr., Justin M. Newman, Gabrielle R. Newman, Emily F. Knox, Griffin C. Knox, Mikenzie N. Newman, Alyssa M. Newman, and Natalie Joan Newman; also three great-grandchildren; her beloved brother, Thomas (Pat) Lyman and his wife, Ruth; her beloved sisters, Evelyn Wood, Dottie Nicotera and her husband, Raymond, and Anita (Louise) Werner; a loving cousin, Elizabeth Becraft; and many loving nieces and nephews, which she was very close to. She was predeceased by two sisters, Carol Ann Lyman and Gloria Scott; also a nephew, Kenneth Scott. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Faxton St. Luke's Health Care for the wonderful care, complimented by true compassion that was given to Joan and her family during her illness. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Utica , where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours ...
