CHARLOTTE -- Mrs. Bertha Estelle Cheeeman, 75, of Charlotte, died Thursday at a local convalescent home where she had been a patient five years. She was born in Allegan County, a daughter of Lewis and Anna (Moon) Goodwin, but had been a resident of Eaton County for 60 years. She was the widow of William Cheeseman, who died in 1959. Mrs. Cheeseman was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Charlotte. Surviving are three sons, Francis Beacraft of Carmel Township, Ivan Beacraft of Chester Township, and Vance Cheeseman of Kalamo Township; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Arlene) Swan of Onaway; two stepsons, Homer Cheeseman of Wixom and Ira Cheeseman of Novi; a brother, Orval Goodwin of Olivet; a sister, Mrs. Harley (Tress) Badger of Jonesville; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She had lived in Eaton County for 60 years and was a member of the Charlotte Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving are three sons, Francis Beacraft, Ivan Beacraft and Vance Cheeeman, all of rural Charlotte, a daughter, Mrs. Harold Swan of Onaway, two step sons, Homer Cheeseman of Wixom and Ira Cheeseman of Novi, a brother, Orville Goodwin of Olivet and a sister, Mrs. Harley Badger of Jonesville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pray Funeral Home with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
