Elizabeth (Betty) Joy Carmen Beecroft Sutphen, 82, of Pt. Pleasant. We are sad to announce the passing of our mother, Betty Beecroft Sutphen, of Pt. Pleasant, on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. Betty was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Pt. Pleasant Firehouse #2 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 4715. Mom was born on Oct. 9, 1930 in Red Bank to the late Howard and Inez Carmen.

Mom was predeceased by her husbands, Thomas Arthur Beecroft in 1973 and John Sutphen in 2000 and her sons, Thomas John Beecroft in 1994 and James Arthur Beecroft in 1995. Betty, a loving mother and grandmother, is survived by her three children, Bonnie Feit and her husband Fred, John Beecroft and his wife Eileen and Peter Beecroft; as well as four grandchildren, Philip Thomas Feit, Jonathan Arthur Beecroft, James Thomas Beecroft and Samantha Jenny Beecroft. Betty is also survived by her brother, Howard "Chip" Carmen.

Family and friends will remember Betty for her beautiful smile, her great sense of humor, her love of animals and her love for her family and friends.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 until the services at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church, 804 Bay Ave., Pt. Pleasant, NJ (732-892-9254).
