KNIGHTSTOWN - Michael D. Becraft, 48, of Knightstown, passed away suddenly Wednesday at Henry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1958, in Rushville, the son of Wayne H. Becraft and the late Dorothy (Safewright) Becraft. He was raised in Rushville and graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1976. He married Janet M. Williamson on Sept. 11, 1987, and she survives.
He was a welder and pipe fitter by trade and worked at Eli Lilly.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Knightstown, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Indiana Gun Club and U.S. Parachute Association. Mike was an adventure extremist. He was an experienced skydiver and was a skydiving video technician. He was an avid angler and fished the Red Man's Circuit. Experience in backpacking, hiking, scuba diving, water skiing, spelunking, hunting and canoeing were only a few of his activities.
In addition to his wife, Janet, survivors include one daughter, Caitlin of Knightstown; his father, Wayne of Rushville; one brother, Richard (wife Phyllis) of Mitchell; one sister Beth (Mrs. Doug) Jarman of Rushville; mother and father-in-law, Stanley and Jan Williamson of Williamsburg; and several nieces & nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with the Rev. Mark Tabb officiating. Burial will follow at Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Todd Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation, Madison County Indiana Chapter, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Michael D. Becraft, 48, of Knightstown, died January 31 at Henry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1958, in Rushville, a son of Wayne H. and the late Dorothy (Safewright) Becraft.
Mr. Becraft was raised in Rushville and was a 1976 Rushville Consolidated High School graduate. He married Janet M. Williamson on Sept. 11, 1987 and she survives. A welder and pipe fitter by trade, he was employed at Eli Lilly.
A member of First Baptist Church in Knightstown, Mr. Becraft was also a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Indiana Gun Club and the U.S. Parachute Association. He was known as an adventure extremist and was avid skydiver and skydiving technician. Some of his other activities included backpacking, hiking, scuba diving, water skiing, spelunking, hunting and canoeing. Mr. Becraft was also an avid angler who fished on the Red Man circuit.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; a daughter, Caitlin of Knightstown; his father, Wayne of Rushville; a brother, Richard (wife, Phyllis) of Mithcell; a sister, Beth (husband, Doug) Jarman of Rushville; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Stanley and Jan Williamson of Williamsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were February 6 at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Mark Tabb officiating. Burial followed at Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Visitation was February 1 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation, Madison County, Indiana, Chapter with envelopes available at the funeral home.
