The family probably emigrated from England to the US about 1840. Then in the early 1850s they moved to Upper Canada. They were in Caradoc in 1861 and were probably there for some considerable period of time before leaving, probably to return to the US after the Civil War, as their son John was working in Brooklyn in 1870.
