Leve J. Beecroft
Leve J. (Brooks) (Sutton) Beecroft, 81, died at 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2003, at Manor Care Kingston Court. She was the wife of the late Paul C. Sutton who died in 1965 and the late Melvin F. Beecroft who died in 1974. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2004 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc. 87 South Main St., Mt. Wolf. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Richard Godfrey from Madison Avenue Church of The Brethren. Mrs. Beecroft was born April 28, 1922, in Wilkes County, NC. She was one of 15 children of Thomas and Laura (Caudill) Brooks. She was a retired seamstress from Bern Haven Sewing Factory in Mt. Wolf. She loved children, cooking, reading, traveling and playing the slots. She was a member of the Madison Avenue Church of The Brethren in York. Mrs. Beecroft is survived by three daughters, Betty Altland of Spring Grove, Nancy Knouse of Santa Fe, NM and Ruth Hoffmaster of Wrightsville; one son, John Sutton of Coloma, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one greatgreat-grandchild; two stepdaughters, Barbara Elliott of Yorklyn, Marie Hoffman of North York; two stepsons, Melvin Beecroft of Millsboro, Del. and Thomas Beecroft of Hagerstown, Md.; nine step-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews across the country. Mrs. Beecroft was preceded in death by a son, David P. Sutton, who died in 1968.
