Rev. John MacMurchy was a Presbyterian Minister. His registers cover the years between 1849 and 1856. Most of the marriages that he performed during this time were in Eldon & Mariposa twp (now Victoria Co)., and Thorah twp (Thorah was once part of Ontario Co., but is now part of Brock twp., Durham Region). At present, up to mid-1853 has been transcribed - 83 marriages so far. The writing is difficult to read, and some of the writing has faded. If any of the brides or grooms were widowed at the time of their marriage, this is noted... otherwise all grooms were bachelors and all brides were spinsters.
