Verne C. Beecroft, age 74, of Barron died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 1991 at his winter residence in Jensen Beach, Fl.

He was born Nov. 17, 1916 at Almena to Herbert and Amelia (Friske) Beecroft. He grew up in the Almena area. On Nov. 8, 1940 he married Lorraine Leuck at Chisago City, Minn. he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to Barron and was employed by Solie Plumbing and Heating for a number of years before starting his own business, Beecroft Plumbing and Heating, which he operated for 26 years before retiring. They continued to live in Barron and spent winters in Florida.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Barron, Barron Masonic Lodge #220 of which he was a Past Master, Eau Claire consistory and the Zor Shrine Temple of Madison. He was past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star in Barron, and belonged to American Legion Post #212, Barron, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8338, U.S. Submarine Veterans Association and the Rice Lake Elks Lodge #1441.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine Beecroft of Barron; sons Verne C. Beecroft of Pittsburgh, Pa. And Bradley Beecroft of Durham, N.C.; daughters Julie Lundequam of Barron and Lori Olson of Buffalo, Minn.; brothers Lawrence Beecroft of Cumberland and Kenneth Beecroft of Solon Springs, Wis.; sisters Myrtle Mjaanes of Cumberland; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother Herb and one grandson, John Beecroft.

Memorial services and Masonic services will be held Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church in Barron with Rev. Charles Cederholm officiating with burial following in Wayside Cemetery.

Rausch-Rockman Funeral Service of Barron conducted local arrangements.
