Two-vehicle crash sends some to hospital
June 14, 2007

WINCHESTER BAY: Several people were injured Wednesday in a vehicle crash on Highway 101 near Milepost 216.

Terry L. Brown, 55, of Coos Bay was stopped for traffic in a Chevrolet Caprice in a construction zone when his car was struck from behind by a 1992 Chrysler driven by Tina M. Charon, 47, of Idleyld Park around 9:45 a.m., according to an Oregon State Police report.

The impact caused the Caprice to travel another 300 yards downhill before stopping.

Brown and the passengers in Charon's car, Nesta R. Beecroft, 68, and Charles L. Beecroft, 72, both of Coos Bay, were taken to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport.

Charon was taken by private vehicle to the hospital, according to the report.

The patients' conditions were not available this morning.

Charon was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device.
