SPRINGFIELD - John William Beecraft II, 64, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009, at St. John's Hospital.

John was born August 21, 1944, in Springfield, the son of John William and Rosemary Widner Beecraft.

John was employed as a mechanic with the State of Illinois for thirty-five years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. John was a kind-hearted jokester who enjoyed being outdoors gardening, fishing, hunting and country music.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his companion, Erma Morris of Springfield; three sons, John William Beecraft III of Chestnut, Robert Beecraft of Elkton, FL, and Brad Madigan of Lincoln; one daughter, Kathy Madigan of Springfield; one stepson, Dale Wagner of Auburn; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Beecraft of Springfield.

Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.

Graveside ceremonies will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Chitwood officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
