Thomas L. Becraft Sr.
QUINCY, Pa. - Thomas Leroy Becraft Sr., 76, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 10902 Loop Road, Fayetteville, Pa., died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 5, 1923, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late James and Clara Kauffman Becraft.
He was employed by the federal government as a restoration specialist, working at Gettysburg National Military Park from 1959 to 1984. He was a work leader for Catoctin Job Corps near Camp David; and a driving instructor from 1956 to 1959.
He served in the U.S. Army and in the National Guard in Waynesboro.
He was a member South Mountain Fish and Game Club; and National AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Loretta Wagaman Becraft, whom he married in October 1941, also of Quincy United Methodist Home; two daughters, Cleopatra Carbaugh of Mont Alto, Pa., and Connie E. Shaner of Mount Wolf, Pa.; two sons, Thomas L. Becraft Jr., of Mont Alto, and Donald L. Becraft of South Mountain, Pa.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. C. Albert Guyer will officiate. Burial will be in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
