ZELPHA MARIE YOUNG, 76, of North Manchester, formerly of Urbana, died Friday at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. Born in Mishawaka, she retired from Cyclone Seeder Co. in Urbana after 16 years. Her husband, Luther F., died in 1997 and son, Alfred Lee, in 1998. Surviving are two sons, Floyd Eugene of Palm Bay, Fla., and Gerald of Santa Fe, Texas; two daughters, Joyce Day of Roann and Geraldine Friend of North Manchester; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel. Calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. She was born on March 21, 1926, in Mishawaka, to Franklin and May (Shank) Becraft. She married Luther F. Young on July 3, 1950. He died on Feb. 26, 1997.
She retired from Cyclone Seeder Company, Urbana, after 16 years service.
Surviving are two sons, Floyd Eugene Young, Palm Bay, Fla., and Gerald Young, Santa Fe, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Joyce) Day, Roann, and Geraldine Friend, North Manchester; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. One son, Alfred Lee Young, died in 1998. Three brothers and four sisters are also deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel. Pastor Ken Parsons will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
