• Obituary, The Herald (Everett), 29 Nov 2007
Helen Becraft (Strom, Williams) Franklin was born June 11, 1919 in Sedro Wooley, WA to Lydia and Archie Becraft as the second oldest of five children. She graduated from Everett High School in 1936. Except for the years during WW II when she followed her husband to Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the past few months near her daughter in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Helen resided in the Everett area.
She worked most of her adult life in Everett, beginning at Wellworth Blind Co. Then on to Montgomery Ward becoming the first manager of the catalog store when the big store closed in 1961. In the 1970's she was in charge of the office at Cruise-A-Home. She finished her working career at Everett Federal Bank at a job she dearly loved, helping senior citizens with their investment questions.
For many years she was active in the VFW Post 2100 Ladies Auxiliary especially enjoying her activities as part of the VFW Drill Team. She was also active in Beta Sigma Phi and PEO Sisterhood. She attended Cascade View Presbyterian Church from time to time. She had many treasured friendships from these organizations. She especially appreciated the years of yard work her grandson, Pat Scarboro unselfishly provided. She proudly supported grandsons, Dan and Paul Anderson during their years at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO and enjoyed their marching and the flyovers. She loved singing, scrabble, traveling, cats, Russell Stover chocolates, anything on sale, and shoes.
She was preceded in death by all of her husbands, Andrew Strom, Roger Williams and Stan Franklin; as well as her parents.
She is survived by a half brother, Charles Becraft, of Long Beach, CA; daughters, Karyne Ware, of Roslyn, WA and Lee Anderson (David), of Idaho Falls, ID; and son, Andrew Strom, of Yakima, WA. Also surviving are her beloved grandson, Patrick Scarboro, of Marysville, who in her later years became her right hand man. Other grandchildren include, Kameron Ware, of Duluth, GA; Mitchell Ware, of Albany, NY; Liesa Strom and Shayni Strom, both of Yakima, WA; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on November 23, 2007, at Solie Funeral Home, Everett, WA; with internment at Tahoma National Cemetary, Kent, WA.
