Poor Charles died at the young age of 38 from an unfortunate freak accident while at work at the Fry & Co. trucking company in Sedro-Woolley. According to his death certificate, on October 24 1930, he was carrying 80 pounds of lard when he slipped and fell backward, landing hard sideways on his hip. He was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery, where it was evident that a large artery had been ruptured by this fall, leading to massive internal hemorrhage. The bleeding could not be stopped in time, and he died that day at the hospital. He left behind his wife Mae and five young children.• Death, 24 Oct 1930 in Sedro Wooley, Skagit Co, WA
