Winifred W. Bennett CHESAPEAKE
Winifred Webb "Winnie" Bennett, 93, died peacefully May 10, 2006, at Chesapeake Place Assisted Living. Winnie was a native of Washington, N.C., and moved to the Tidewater area in 1936. She retired from the Naval Supply Center in 1974 and was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church and the Ruth Bible Class, past chief and past district deputy at the Norfolk Temple No. 3, Pythian Sisters. She was predeceased by husbands, Eurnell Webb and Damon Bennett; son, Eugene Talmadge Webb; daughter, Joann Becraft; grandson, Dink Becraft; four sisters; and two brothers. Winnie is survived by three sons, Fred Webb and wife Sharon of Chesapeake, Steve Webb and wife Elaine of Franklin, Va., and Allison Webb and wife Valerie of Spokane, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. A service in celebration of her life will be held in the Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 1251 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, Monday at 11 a.m. followed by interment in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will gather at Oman Funeral Home, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Mother's Day to share hugs and memories.
