322. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nygreen2/riverside_cemetery.htm, ID: I418 Name: Edward (1 of Alcester) WALDERNE 1 Sex: M Birth: 1534 in Alcester, Warwickshire, England Death: 1590 Burial: 13 JAN 1590 Alcester, Warwickshire, England Note: 2 Edward Waldron (b.c.1530, Alcester, Warwickshire, England; d.1589/90 Alcester) The first Waldrons to arrive in America may well have been the brothers (Baron) Resolved (or Resolveert) and Joseph. According to information which I have collected from various sources on the WWW (and the accuracy of which I cannot vouch for), Resolved was born on 10 May 1610, in Amsterdam, Holland, and Joseph was a few years younger. Resolved seems to have gone to the New World shortly after his second marriage on 10 May 1654 (although another source gives the date as 1645). In any case, he was in New York by 10 May 1657, when Ruth, daughter of Resolveert Waldron and Tanneken Nagels seems to have been the first Waldron baptism recorded in the surviving records of the Reformed Dutch Church of New Amsterdam. His brother Joseph Waldron and the latter's wife were the witnesses. Resolved died on 17 May 1670, at Hornsbook, Harlem, New York. Different sources trace Resolved's Waldron ancestry back to either Edward Waldron (b.c.1530, Alcester, Warwickshire, England; d.1589/90 Alcester) or John Waldron (b.c.1560, Goodworth Clatford, Hampshire, England). The early parish records of Alcester contain details on Edward and his immediate descendants. His grandson, John (also known as `Count Johannes von Waldron'), father of Resolved, settled in Holland. Resolved received a grant of a large tract of land on both sides of the Harlem River in New York. A suit was brought in about 1903 by the descendants in 26 States of the Union of `Baron Waldron' (in the name of Colonel Samuel Waldron who lived on the disputed lands) to recover $20,000,000 or possession of the lands. I would like to consult the New York Genealogical & Biographical Record, v. 126 (Jan 1995), p.12, (See Notes for full copy).
